It was often more difficult to navigate the rural landscape to reach his patients than to diagnose them. Dr. MacMillan relates his experiences with warmth, wit, and genuine love for the life he lived. He shares stories about his patients, his beloved horses that carried him from home to home, the fickle Maritime weather, and the people that helped him though it (and out of it!). The stories span almost a century, depicting Dr. MacMillan's own experiences and the recollections of the people he cared for, carrying on until he retired and moved on to represent Victoria County in the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia.
